Herbal Workshops
Anna Rósa, a clinical herbalist, will teach refugee and host women how to make herbal products, for their own use and to earn income. The women keep all of the products we make and they are chosen by the women based on their needs – for example, remedies for pain, burns and wounds. We only use local ingredients and promote environmental sustainability.
Training the Trainers
Anna Rósa will train women refugee leaders on how to teach herbal workshops in their communities. There are around 88.000 people in the Palabek refugee settlements and by training the trainers the knowledge will reach more women in need.
Product Development
Beekeeping activities are common in the Palabek settlement and various bee products are produced. Some beekeeping groups have expressed strong interest in adding value to their existing products with Anna Rósa’s assistance.
Herbal Data Bank
There is a rich knowledge of the local use of herbs in the refugee settlement. We will systematically document this and add photos, traditional uses from other countries, recipes and scientific papers. This information will be shared within the community in the form that they prefer.
Mosquito Repellent
Malaria is 44% of all diseases in the Palabek settlement. We plan to produce essential oils from local herbs and develop a herbal mosquito repellent that could be used to prevent malaria.
